Mad Scientists!

Imagination is not lacking in this household. Landon and Kalena are constantly drumming up some exotic world and situations. Sometimes these dramas will play out for several days, incorporating new characters and new situations. Then they will be dropped for another type of play and then picked up again weeks later - like they have been working on a script and now need to try it out to see how it fits.

It's fascinating to watch and that I'm jealous that as adults we pretty much given up all that imagination for our "reality". There are days that I too would love to be sucked up into their world of superheros, princesses, or the badger burrow that was in under my living room carpet last week.

So, on Friday I was a little surprised when Kalena and Landon announced that they were going to be scientists! Afterall, they LIVE with scientists - where's the drama in that! But, it turned out to be rather enterataining - mostly to hear Kalena say the word, "investigation", which turns out more like "intestiGAtion". They found all sorts of interesting instruments to conduct their intestigations :)

Young scientists at work with Landon is inputing data into the computer and Kalena conducting field observations.

After several days of being scientists, it was fitting that on Saturday we attended the Museum of the North open house. I learned a lot about the bats in Alaska (did you know we have 6 species!) and the kids tried out activities.

After our trip to the museum, we went to Tessa's house for a sleepover. Yep...we had NO kids last night and we got to see an adult movie and stay OUT late! It was nice but now the house is too quite and I'm kind of missing my little mad scientists...

Tee hee. Jack has been playing "archaeologist" and going on "excavations" at the beach. I guess it is in their blood. Did Jasper keep you company without the kids?
