This blog is about Kalena. Once, I wrote one just about Landon but never wrote one about Kalena. I think it's time I did it...not just because I haven't done one for her but because she's been such a 4-year old of late and I really need to set the record straight about her.

A week ago, we had our first "parent-teacher" conference with her preschool teacher, Missy. For this age group, they have a check list of skills that range from cutting to recognizing letters and other fun skills like that. Kalena is way beyond all this - she's one of the oldest in the class and one of the few girls. So, Missy just told us what a "sweet" girl she was. She told us that she's always helping out and just a" ray of sunshine" in her classroom. All the things parents like to hear. So, you might be wondering what is the issue. This is good, right? Wrong! I listened to Missy and wondered if we were talking about the same person. Sure, she can be sweet and funny and help out but let me tell you the Kalena that I know has fits. And lots of them! I even asked if she ever had a dark side at school and Missy swore that was not the Kalena she knew. As we talked, Kalena played over in the corner of the room and colored a valentine for me. About a 1/2 hour later, back at home, the "other" Kalena came screaming out her room about some such thing that I could never figure what was the issue and I wondered where that "ray of sunshine" had gone that Missy was talking about.
But then again, when Kalena isn't all wound up and screeching, she IS down right cute. She's funny, fashionable, athletic, likes challenges, and is very caring. And, she does the cutest things with her words. She can't get the "ka" sounds right and everything ends up with a "ta". Corn turns into "torn" and candy turns into "tandy". Also, she has trouble with "ed" at the end of words. Instead of kissed, it becomes "kiss-did". We always have a good laugh over this and she takes it all in stride.
Ah well, I suppose it's all about being 4 and since that goes away all too soon...we'll endure the screech and howls for a bit longer. As long as we can see the our ray of sunshine every now and then and get kiss-did.

I must have missed this post somehow!
I don't think Kalena has ever had a fit at school. I have only ever witnessed a tiny start to one. I think you must be exaggerating! : )
