Now that I've had several days to recover from the cold I received while on our vacation in Texas and Arizona - I can actually post some more photos! The first week was spent with Brad's family in Texas and the second week with my family in Arizona.
This set of photos is from the Arizona portion of the trip. We all met up in Sedona or "Red Rock Country". If you have never been there - you need to go! It's just an amazing place and thought to be one of the few places on earth where a person find a "vortex" and be energized. REALLY! There are signs and massage places all over the town where one can find your inner vortex :) After a week of family and a head cold...I decided the "vortex" was just spinning the wrong way :)
Red Rock Country - and yes, those are the kids playing on the rocks!

One of the many great things about Sedona (besides finding your vortex), is all the access to cultural sites. We took several day trips to visit ruins that were in the area. This is Montezuma's Castle. We were wishing that we had brought our archaeologist/anthropology friends, Jeff and Julie, with us! You guys would have loved these places!!

Below is a ruin that was located near a place with lots of cave art! While we were checking out the cave art, a ranger showed Landon and Kalena how to make paint using the red rock and a yucca plant as the paintbrush. The kids then had a great time body painting themselves and us!

Below are the kids and their cousin, Victoria, at some ancient corn grinding stones.

Another cool thing we ended up doing was checking out a place called, "Out of Africa". With all the animal lovers in our group, this was an activity we couldn't miss! Out of Africa is a wildlife park of rescued animals. Besides taking a safari trip around the park to check out all the animals (like the lion and crazy person working with the tigers) you can also feed the giraffes.
Beautiful male lion....check out those eyes!!
Nice Kitty, kitty.....
Here's a crazy person with 4 tigers (you only see two here) in the enclosure!!

And, yes you can feed and get KISSED by a giraffe. Here's my niece about to be kissed by the giraffe! What a very long tongue and it's purple too!

So, it was a great trip and we had a blast seeing all the relatives and enjoying the sun! Special thanks to the grandma's for making it very special trip :) A big warm and heartfelt valentine's hug and kisses to you both - WE LOVE YOU!!!
