Post-Election Ramblings...

We voted yesterday! It was an exciting morning for the kids as we all went to the polls. They thought it was great fun to eat cookies and receive stickers first thing in the morning!

This morning we were anxious to find out the results of our vote but the excitement waned when we realized that once again we are truly in a very conservative and slightly backwards State. Case in point....we decided that our current governor was truly bad bad bad and instead of going for a known quantity, former Governor Tony Knowles, we apparently decided that having a person with little experience is a good thing and elected Sarah Palin. It is exciting to have a female governor but not so exciting when you find out that she believes the world is only 6000 years old. And, her parents were teachers....I just don't get it. Plus, she's not a big believer in spending money on education - in particular advanced education like Universities - go figure. It will be another interesting and mostly likely, unproductive four years.

We did have some high points....we got rid of the car salesman that was our District's representative for the State and settled on a Democrat - the first one from our District in 23 years!

To lift our post-election spirits- we decided to bake cookies :) So...no more election mumblings....

Dad making his famous oatmeal cranberry cookies....with some help?!

Yummy flour!

And the verdict is? GOOD! And, Willow wants a taste too!
