Olnes Pond
The new year was off to a busy start. We bought a bunch of fireworks and decided to have some people over for the afternoon and an "early" mini-sparktacular! It was great fun and the kids had a great time but not as much fun as the adults! After shooting all the fireworks and eating great food - we all headed out to watch the bigger fireworks show at the university. We ended up over by the park service office, where the kids played in the snow bank and the adults enjoyed the show! We then culminated the end of 2007 and started the beginning of 2008 by watching our neighbors' fireworks which went on until 3AM! Fortunately, we can watch their fireworks from our bed and I'd catch glimpses of colorful stars in and out of my dreams. It was a great way to start the new year.Friends chatting during fireworks display at house.

Besides fireworks, the kids have had a nice break from school and daycare and have been doing a lot of activities. Everything from ice-skating to sleepovers. This weekend, Molly spent the night. Breakfast is SO much better with friends :)

The new year wouldn't be complete without some new snow. We got another inch of the stuff this weekend and it was warm enough (zero) for us to venture out for a snowshoe at Olnes Pond. This was Kalena's first official snowshoe outing and she did great....although it was slow going and we had to take a snack break about an 1/8 of a mile from the car. Maybe we won't be doing the White Mountains this year....
