Fun in the Sun: Texas

The Alamo at night.

After our week in Colorado, we headed off to Texas for a visit with the "other" set of relatives. We were greeted at the airport by all the cousins - sign and all! It was quite fun.

Immediately, we drove to G.G's (Grandma Gladys) house for dinner and a good romp with the cousins. Kalena barely said hello before she was sitting down with G.G. and her cousin, Hannah, and having her nails painted! In bright RED-of course :)

The rest of the week was filled with trips to museums, cowboys adventures, more nail painting, fashion shows, swimming, amusement park rides, movies, eating out on the river, more swimming, a sleep over, and a visit to a local cave.

The river walk in downtown.

Dino ridin' and diggin'. Yeehaw!

Swimming, swimming, swimming...

A three-Shults Slumber Party!

Girl-time in G.G's bed!

Cascade Cavern

The grand finale of our trip was an ADULT birthday party, 60's theme, celebrating Uncle Jeff turning 40. There was even a baby sitter hired to watch all the kids! Now, that was a real treat!!

Ah, the 60's.....

We weren't sorry to leave the heat and humidity but we were sorry to leave all the family. We had a great visit with everyone in Colorado and Texas and it was hard to say goodbye.

But on our drive home from Anchorage back to Fairbanks, we were reminded why we love Alaska. It was an absolutely beautiful day and the tallest mountain in North America was a brilliant beacon coming home.
