November is...

November is...

...the month of Portfolios. This is the equivalent of Parent-Teacher conferences and how the kids are graded at their Charter school. They have a few busy weeks getting everything ready and then they set aside an hour or so to present to their parents. This year we had two presentations --- one with Landon and one with Kalena. It's was pretty fun. The kids go through a notebook that has what they think is their best work. There are letters from the teacher, letters from us (to the student), and letters from the student to the parents. They also have to do one demonstration --- something they learned over those 9 weeks. Here are a few photos of portfolio days.

Portfolios are celebrated at their school where the whole school does special projects, watches movies, and eats "fun" food. We also celebrate the kids work and they get a special treat. It's a great way to get grades and see what the kids are learning.

November is also a time to celebrate Brad's birthday! We had a busy morning on the 16th and the kids had fun wrapping various items from their rooms to give their dad! It was pretty funny :)

November is also the time for late mornings and early evenings. Seems that with the shorter days that we've had marvelous sunrises and sunsets. Check out this rosy evening sky!

November is for friends. We've had a fun month seeing friends and having a special weekend with "Ursula", the class bear.

Ajax!

November is also the time to give thanks! We are headed to Anchorage (weather permitting) to see Doug, girls, and Tom for a few days of Thanksgiving festivities! Looking forward to seeing everyone and doing some skiing!

Happy Thanksgiving!
