End of Summer Trip -- Colorado (Part 1)

Exactly 8 days after school started, I took the kids out of school for 1 week for a trip to Colorado. I know the teachers weren't exactly thrilled with the idea but what the heck, it was still August and still technically summer! We needed one last trip to see the grandparents before the school madness truly set in. It was a short trip but well worth it!

Granny Bev, Kalena, and Landon --- enjoying the sunset!

It's always fun eating breakfast with Grandpa Ed.

The kids and I had a nice flight to Durango and spent the week with Granny Bev and Grandpa Ed. We enjoyed a BBQ in the San Juan National Forest, went swimming in Ignacio, visited family and friends in Durango, and played around on the golf cart.

The BBQ in San Juan Forest --- very beautiful spot.

Just climbin' around!

Nothing like Colorado blue sky!

Playing on the 'horse' at grandparents house --- favorite past time.

Nothing like going for golf cart rides in the evenings.

Glory. She is one cool dog. (Kalena took this photo.)

Having a picnic with Uncle Bill, Aunt Marilyn, and Amy!

Looking for the Osprey nest.

Osprey and mushroom hunting day.

We also had a nice drive to Denver via Gold Hill. In Gold Hill, we had a great visit and lunch with family friends, Jack and Linda. This turned out to be a very timely trip because 48 hours after being in Gold Hill, the town was almost burned down! More on that later...

The kids discovered the old playhouse that we used to play in as kids! (I think this is gone now because of the fire....)

Before leaving Colorado, we had a fun visit with Cousins Tucker and Karyn in Denver. It was great to see everyone and be with family. We can't wait to see you all again soon!
