Of Lakes, Dirt, Cake, and Horses...and such

We had a fantastic weekend and a great start to the week already - enough happenings that I didn't want to be another month behind! It all started this past Friday with an overnight trip to Chena Lakes -- our local escape that is only 14 miles out of town. It's a great rec area with lots of choices which was a good thing with our group! So, we did a little bit of camping, lots of play by the playground - catching bugs and such - and lots of bicycle riding. No canoeing or swimming this trip.

Loading up with rocks -- gravel is such fun!

The weekend ended with a birthday party at Jack's house...he turned 4! A very fun party and a great time catching up with various families. The party hit was the black frosting on Jack's Spider man Cake. It was awesome!
Making potions.

Talking with friends and swatting mosquitoes!

Oh boy! Jack turns 4!

Enjoying the cool toys on the cake.

Check out our tongues!

The week started with a very "vague" landscaping plan about "maybe" adding some dirt to the front turn around. So, we went for it and got a few loads of dirt to put around and throw wildflower seeds on. That's all we could muster for planning. Other than that, it was great fun throwing dirt around!

Moving dirt is so fun!!

The big event for today was horseback riding lessons. (Yes mom, you read it right here!) I figured that if the kids were going to spend more time with Carolyn or Granny Bev -- both horse people - then they needed to have some official lessons. Landon was nervous and Kalena was ecstatic! Ginger was awesome and so was Splash! The kids had a great time and will be going back for more and on a regular basis -- at least for the summer.

Kalena gets to ride in the buddy saddle. What a great idea!

A new baby horse. The horses are Paints and Arabs mixed and they are quite beautiful!

For the rest of the week, I'm not sure what is to come....maybe Julie's baby? :)
