To the Lower 48!

August has come quickly and with it our annual departure to visit grandparents and relatives in the lower 48. We are just wrapping up our two weeks in Colorado and Texas. Here are some photos of our adventures.

At the airport at 9PM and wide-awake for our adventure!

On way to Granny Bev and Grandpa Ed's house, ran into Boom Town Days in Leadville, Colorado. Boom Town Days included lots of fun activities like riding a kiddie-train! Of course, we were out of breath after just arriving in Denver that very morning at 7AM and going up to 10,000 feet!

Finally, we made it to the grandparents house. Here are the kids playing on the golf cart with Grandpa Ed.

Colorado wouldn't be complete without a visit to an ancient ruin. Here are Brad and Kalena using a grinding stone at Chimney Rock.

Or, riding the horse, Princess...

Or, just relaxing by the house...

a lake...

Or, a trek to Great Sand Dunes National Park.

Thanks Granny Bev and Grandpa Ed! We had a blast in Colorado.

After our short visit in Colorado, it was off to Texas.

Texas wouldn't be complete without Mexican food on the river...

Texas Longhorns...

The Alamo...

The beach...

Ferry rides...

Fishing...

A trip to the NASA Space Center...

And, finally a car wreck!

No one was hurt, but Tom's car (our friend traveling with us) was wrecked. He was renting the red car below that got hit by the women in the other red car. I'll save this for another blog. :-)

Our mini-van damaged...but it still works!!

We are heading back to Alaska tomorrow. We'll miss the sun - especially since I heard it was still raining there...but we'll be happy to see Willow, Skittles, and all our friends. School starts on Wednesday! Oh my gosh!!!
