Three Signs of Spring in Fairbanks

There are three things that really prove that spring has finally come to Fairbanks. They are as follows:

1. Geese arrive at Creamer's Field and it's the start of the Annual Spring Migration Festival.

Creamer's Field in late summer....it doesn't look like this now - except that there are geese.

2. The Nenana Ice Classic tripod is watched on a daily basis.

For those of you that like to bet...you can bet on when this tripod will topple over. This is a photo from April 17th from Nenana.

3. Hot Licks opens up and the sweet smell of sugar drifts through my office.

All week we have been watching them get ready to open Hot Licks. They opened at noon today and by 2pm, I had seen at least 20 people stop in to get ice cream! Alaskans love their ice cream!!

YEAH SPRING!

On a different note, this has been a week of milestones for friends.
* Congratulations to DR. Jeff Rasic on finishing your Ph.D.
* Congratulations to another Dr., Mark Lindberg and his great finishing time in the Boston Marathon today. 42nd place for his age group and AHEAD of Lance Armstrong.
* Congratulations to Zane Lindberg - he turned one this past weekend and is already walking and getting into everything.
* Congratulations to Katie, Derek, and Galen for moving out of the your parent's basement and moving into your own house! :)
