We've had a very busy week...well, at least I have. Landon got to start his spring break last week but I didn't get to enjoy it since I had teachers from all over the country in Fairbanks for a week of training. Despite the long days and all the work - it was fun to meet new people and see them get so excited about science and about going to the polar regions! They made the long hours worth it and I must say that I was jealous that I wasn't their student! What lucky kids there are out there that get to have them as teachers!
The week wasn't all work...we did manage some fun - like a visit to the Reindeer Research Farm - where we fed all the reindeer and then a trip back in time in the Permafrost Tunnel. We also had great guest speakers - I arranged a visit from a friend about working in rural communities and he performed the Igloo dance for us. One of the teachers put together this video of Sean explaining the dance.
The group had a great time, learned a lot, and they look forward to their upcoming adventures in science. I look forward to washing clothes (really!), not getting up at 5:30, and playing with the kids at the ice park!!
