Spring!

Spring has finally arrived in Alaska! I know this for sure because we had our first 5K run/walk for the season! The Flush the Slush run was on Sunday and we all made the 3 miles, including Kalena and under 1 hour! Also, I know it's spring because my backyard looks a lot like dog poopsicles as they emerge from beneath the snow :) I saw pussy willows on the trees and it stays light way into the evening -- like 9PM!! All signs of spring!

We've had a busy past few months with several trips outside of Alaska. It was good to get out of state but I'm glad to be home for a bit! Here's a look at some of our recent trip to California. Brad had to do some "spin" training and we went along for the trip and to see the grandparents. It was really fun and we had great weather!

From swimming pools to beaches --- we spent lots of time in the water!

We also spent some time checking out Channel Islands National Park. After checking out the headquarters, we took a boat ride to Santa Cruz Island for the day. It was a very fun day!

The old ranch house on one side of Santa Cruz Island.

While Granny Bev went on a tour, the kids and I hiked up the hill for a better view.

And, what a view it was!

On the return back to port, the naturalist shared information about whales with the kids. Along the way, we saw a few Gray Whales feeding!

We also saw huge groups (over several hundred) Common Dolphins feeding.

Besides the visit to Channel Islands, we also really enjoyed seeing my cousin Sperry and his family (and he has the cutest twins!!), as well as enjoying fun times with Granny Bev and Grandpa Ed. We went on several excursions to the Farmer's Market, the Pirate Playground, to Santa Barbara to see the Mission, and of course, several trips to the beach for more fun and beautiful sunsets.

Playing at the coolest playground ever!

Beautiful sunsets...

We are looking forward to Brad having more training in California in the future and camping on Santa Cruz Island!
