It's here...s-n-o-w

Shhh....don't tell me that I can't pretend that it is fall anymore...I just don't want to hear it. We finally have the "white-stuff" on the ground and I'm sure it's here until May. As quickly as it came down, I went into winter nesting mode (and eventually hibernation) and the kids went crazy with excitement. They couldn't wait to put on all that gear and go outside. I think Landon played with every winter toy in a span of a few minutes - going from sleds to skies and back again. Bless is heart...he even wanted to make a snowman! I'm glad they are excited since it will be awhile before we see brown or green again.

This week has been a week of events. First the snow and then reading...yes, reading. Landon started actually a couple of weeks ago - starting to put the sounds together and finally he got it and has been reading everything! It's so amazing to see how it all comes together. Just this morning he read me a book that he had never seen. Every time he reads, I get all choked up and then he starts crying too! I'm so excited and can't wait until we can read Harry Potter together :)

Our other big event was a sleepover. Molly came over last night for our first "official" sleepover with a friend and it was a blast. When Kalena found out that Molly was spending the night, she just kept jumping up and down shouting - HURRAY, HURRAY! After watching a movie, the three of them slept soundly in sleeping bags on the floor in Kalena's room. It was very cute to hear them tell stories through the monitor :)

And, the grand finale of the week was a trip to town to watch a musical about Frog and Toad. We met Molly, Tessa, Amelia, and Riley and had front row seats (thanks to Carolyn) right next to the orchestra. (We missed you, Jack!). The kids were actually entertained (and so were the adults) for a full TWO hours! It was a really good production of a great story. I'm sure that we'll be thinking about it for a few weeks.

So...I guess it hasn't been that bad of a start for winter....maybe I'll postpone hibernation for another few weeks.

WOW! What a weekend you had. We all got sick at my house but it was fun to have some friends visiting.
